The St. Bernadette Bereavement Ministry is beginning its Fall 7-week Grief Support sessions. We will meet every Thursday in the Family Life Center, which offers a warm, caring, safe and faith-based place for all those attending.

About our Bereavement Ministry:

Provide a safe place for those who have lost a loved one to mourn emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The group endeavors to help those who are grieving realize they are not alone and to provide a faith-based environment of hope.

To offer assistance to members of our parish family who are having difficulty coping due to illness or social isolation. We offer support through our prayers which are said individually by members of the ministry, as well as collectively by the church parishioners.

To provide school supplies for students of an "adopted" school in the St. Lucie School District whose parents cannot afford to purchase them. The ministry conducts its annaul campaign during July for parishioners to purchase required supplies. These supplies are collected and delivered to the adopted school prior to the first day of class. They are distributed by teachers and staff to those students needing supplies.

To remember our parishioners on their special day. Birthdays are a time to celebrate the lives that God gave us and to thank God and our parents for giving us life. members of the ministry call fellow parishioners on their birthday and offer birthday wishes on behalf of the entire parish.

To provide engaged couples who are to be married at St. Bernadette Parish with a guide who serves as a liaison with the priest/deacon as their wedding date approaches.

A Catholic women's organization (single or married) that promotes spiritual, social, intellectual and economic welfare to its members. The Columbiettes assist and support the Knights of Columbus, St. Bernadette Church and the community.

To assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion to the sick and homebound

To assist bereaved family members plan a funeral Mass for their loved one. To greet and guide them on the day of the liturgy.

Helpful Attributes - People are vulnerable during times of grief, so patience and compassion are vital to this ministry. An ability to organize is also essential

To assist the staff at Parkway Elementary School in providing engaging literacy experiences to at-risk elementary school children in our community. This ministry exists to provide the opportunity for members of our parish to share in the educational, spiritual and social growth of the youngest and most impressionable members of our community.

Helping to feed the hungry by providing non-perishable food collected at all Masses on the last weekend of each month.

To make rosaries which will be sent to Catholic missions throughout the world. We will also use these rosaries at St. Bernadette for our children and as gifts for newly baptized and weddings.

Responsibilities - Training and materials will be provided, members of the Rosary Makers Ministry will be able to make rosaries at home

To encourage members of our St. Bernadette Parish Family to consider becoming an advocate for children through the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program. This program is a partnership of community advocates and professional staff providing a powerful voice on behalf of Florida's abused, neglected, or otherwise at-risk children. A guardian d litem is a steward appointed by the court to protect the rights of an advocate for the best interest of a child involved in a court proceeding.
